It’s like diving

It’s like,
Diving.

The wonders, no, magic-
of a world
I had only dipped my toes into
now drift by, brushing against me

My hair stands on end
Like there’s something
Big
and Deep
and Old
down here
and I can’t quite catch a glimpse
and I’m unsettled
(So unsettled)
but I have to see it.

There’s wild life here.

And pressure- heavy pressure.
And yet,
somehow,
I’m weightless.

We’re going deeper now,
so how can it be
that it’s so
very
Bright?

I think,
You can’t possibly take me any deeper
We can’t go deeper than this

But for a second
(just a second)
I summon the courage
to glance down
and I realize-

there are fathoms
yet
below.
